Russ Pettit

Russ Pettit has 28 years of experience playing guitar. He performs throughout California in various bands and with numerous styles of music including: Top 40, Blues, Jazz, Instrumental Fusion and original Rock.

Russ studied music at Los Medanos College and continued his musical education by studying under Joe Satriani, Doug Doppler and Brian Pardo from The Jazz School in Berkeley, CA. During his 19 years of teaching guitar, Russ has worked with students as young as 5 years old through adults. Russ teaches all levels, individuals and groups.

Due to Russ’ extensive experience, he can quickly evaluate a student’s musical strengths and weaknesses in order to develop an individualized program to assist students in meeting their musical goals. Russ’ lessons are both differentiated and flexible to match students’ learning styles, motivation levels and musical interests. Having students recognize their own progress is a key component to every lesson. It allows students to celebrate their successes, no matter how small, because learning an instrument is a lifelong journey.
